Naturopathic Care for

Neurological Health & Concussions

My name is Dr. Angelica Kada and I’m a licensed naturopathic doctor practicing in Barrie, Ontario.

I have a general practice with a special focus in neurological conditions, post-concussion syndrome, and women’s health.

In addition to my focus areas, I also support people with the everyday health challenges that naturally show up as we move through life. Things like anxiety, low mood, trouble sleeping, digestive upset, migraines, arthritis, thyroid concerns, or shifts in metabolism (like changes in blood sugar or cholesterol levels). These are common health concerns many of us face, and my goal is to provide compassionate, non-judgemental care to help you feel your best.

My naturopathic practice is rooted in evidence-based medicine to bring you the highest standard of care. As a naturopathic doctor, I am trained in pharmacology and conventional assessments and care guidelines. This allows me to work alongside general practitioners and specialists so that you can receive integrative and complementary care to best support your health journey.

My services

Nutritional Medicine

With so much conflicting health advice online, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure about what to eat. My approach is to create a judgement-free space where we can explore food in a way that feels realistic and supportive for you.

I provide evidence-based guidance to help you feel nourished, energized, and confident in your choices—without rigid rules or restrictive diets. Together, we focus on building sustainable habits that work with your lifestyle, so you can feel fuelled for both your daily life and your long-term health.

Nutraceuticals

Food is always the foundation of good health, but sometimes diet alone isn’t enough to fully restore nutrient balance. When lab work shows deficiencies, we can lean on targeted vitamins and minerals—like iron for fatigue or vitamin D for immune and bone health —to bring the body back into balance.

Nutraceuticals can also be used more therapeutically, with carefully chosen, high-potency supplements to address persistent concerns. For example, magnesium may be used to support sleep, omega-3 fatty acids to calm inflammation and pain.

My approach is always individualized and evidence-based, helping you use supplements wisely—not as a replacement for food, but as a powerful tool alongside it.

Herbal Medicine

Herbs are powerful allies in health and healing. They can be used on their own or alongside conventional treatments, adding further benefit and often offering gentle yet effective support with fewer side effects.

With my training and license in pharmacology, I take care to ensure there are no herb–drug interactions. In some cases, herbs can even be used as an add-on therapy to enhance the effectiveness of a medication or to offset its side effects, creating a more balanced approach to care.

Depending on what you’re dealing with, herbs can help in lots of areas—like supporting your mood, keeping blood sugar and cholesterol in check, calming inflammation, and easing aches and pains.

Every herbal plan is personalized to you, blending traditional wisdom with modern evidence to create safe, effective treatment plans.

Lifestyle

The how and when can make all the difference. Sometimes it’s not just about what you’re taking or eating—it’s also about timing it to work with your body’s natural rhythms and drives. Alongside recommending treatments (and at times referrals), I focus on the lifestyle components that help those treatments work their best.

For example, certain sleep supplements can be very effective—but if they’re not taken with proper sleep hygiene and timing, their benefits are limited.

When we work together, your treatment plan always includes lifestyle tips, strategies, and recommendations to maximize results. Often, this approach allows your body to heal naturally, reducing—or even eliminating—the need for ongoing supplements or supports.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Life brings many transitions, and some can feel rocky—especially when we don’t know what to expect. During perimenopause and menopause, hormonal shifts can bring noticeable changes, but that doesn’t mean they have to be overwhelming.

With the right support—through diet, lifestyle, and supplements—it’s possible to navigate these transitions with more ease. In addition, I am able to prescribe hormone replacement therapy when appropriate, offering another option to help restore balance and improve quality of life.

More About Naturopathic Medicine

Our treatment is only as good as our investigation.

One of the key differences between a general medical practitioner & a naturopathic doctor is the luxury of time.

No shade on our OHIP-covered medical doctors—they do an excellent job in the short time they have. But in naturopathic care, the initial visit is 75 minutes, giving us the opportunity to take a deep dive into your health history. This allows us to better understand the root causes of your symptoms and provide individualized, focused care.

For example, if someone comes in with anxiety, I won’t just recommend a herb to treat symptoms. Instead, we begin with a thorough investigation—looking at possible contributors like low blood sugar, blood pressure changes, low iron, hormone changes, or poor sleep—and aim to correct those underlying issues.

This time also allows us to treat the whole person . We’re not limited to addressing just one concern per visit. If someone seeks care for migraines but also struggles with insomnia, we address both—because your health concerns are often connected, and treating the whole picture helps you feel your best.

While naturopathic medicine is not covered by OHIP, it is covered by many extended healthcare benefit packages. Check with your insurance provider or your benefits handbook to see what’s in your plan.  In 2014, the Government of Ontario displayed its confidence in naturopathic medicine by removing HST from naturopathic consultations.  This means that naturopathic doctors offer patient visits free of HST.
